Unmissable Leeds Gigs to Grab a Ticket For in 2019 main

The music scene in Leeds seems to be in rude health these days. From open-mic nights at small bars across the city to established as well as new acts performing at the O2 Arena – there is plenty to enjoy. And that’s before we even mention the events at the First Direct Arena.

The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, played the first show at the venue back in July 2013, and its opening was a huge moment for the city, ensuring it could attract the very best performers from across the globe.

But what does the future hold for the Arena and for Leeds as a whole? Here, we share a few upcoming gigs that we simply cannot wait for.

Ed Sheeran at Roundhay Park

Only a handful of huge artists have played at Roundhay Park throughout the years, and it makes total sense that Ed Sheeran would be the next pop star to join that list. He is playing at the site on August 16th and 17th and the fact he is performing twice undoubtedly increases the chances of Leeds fans seeing him in action.

His impressive live performances mean that his gig tickets have become hugely sought-after in recent times, to the point where Mr Green offered a package for one of his recent London O2 shows through its exclusive Club Royale service. The VIP club was created to offer its members access to a range of entertainment, promotions and once-in-a-lifetime adventures, with this undoubtedly showing how Ed’s stock has never been higher.

Cher at First Direct Arena

We’ve already touched upon how important the First Direct Arena has been for Leeds’ music scene, and a prime example of its ability to bring legendary stars to the city is the fact that Cher will be performing at the venue on October 30th.

Her show at the arena is part of her first live dates in the UK for more than 14 years and comes following her scene-stealing turn when performing Fernando in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Foo Fighters at Leeds Festival

Now for something completely different. Leeds Festival is once again being held this year, with headliners ranging from Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone and The 1975 to the mighty Foo Fighters.

The latter are undoubtedly a huge draw, boasting a back-catalogue of searing riffs and shout-along choruses which many bands probably envy. Dave Grohl’s band is also famed for playing for several hours, so be prepared to be treated to a host of huge hits when they perform on August 23rd.

Little Mix at First Direct Arena

Just like Mr Sheeran, pop superstars Little Mix are settling down in Leeds for two nights. The group best known for hits including ‘Wings’, ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Woman Like Me’ are set to perform at the First Direct Arena on both November 18th and 19th.

Little Mix have come a long way since they first emerged as the first group to win the X Factor back in 2011.

Plenty more to enjoy

While we think the acts above are well worth your time, we could have admittedly included a lot more on this list too, with the likes of Rod Stewart and the Eagles also set to perform in Leeds.

What is undeniable, however, is that, regardless of your taste in music, Leeds will undoubtedly have you covered musically in the months ahead.
