A Q&A with Sweet N’ Juicy
Bonkers fruit-based funk fallout from Oregon…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
Sweet (The Banana): The Adventures of Sweet N’ Juicy is our first full length record. It explains us – and how a bunch of fruits formed a band.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Juicy (The Strawberry): The hardest part was probably laying the foundation for the studio we recorded the album in. I had never laid pavement before, and haven’t laid it since.
N’: (Nefertitipharoahsandramundusifilopolis the Pineapple): You guys built the studio for the album?
N’: Then what are you talking about Juicy?
N’: What are you talking about?
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
Sweet: I know it’s a stereotype, but fruits don’t have any money, so we produced it ourselves.
N’: It’s true. We don’t have jobs. There’s a fridge with some pretzels over here.
Juicy: And some fruit.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
Sweet: Music comes from rhythm.
Juicy: Can you feel the rhythm of the night!
Sweet: Also we’re also usually really high.
Juicy: Something something morning light!
N’: We gather runes and arrange them, and read them and those are the songs. And we wear special glasses.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
Juicy: What’s the name of that guy from South Korea?
Juicy: No not him. I like him, but not him.
Juicy: No? Wait, what? No.
N’: Y’all ever been to Franch?
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
Sweet: Anywhere weed is legal we will play.
Sweet: That show was groundbreaking, man.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
Juicy: Inconceivable because everyone always dances to that song.
Sweet: Some songs work better some places, but that song always works.
N’: It’s on The Adventures of Sweet N’ Juicy. It’s around.
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
N’: We were promised a gig on the moon.
Sweet: We just wanna pay all our bills and maybe buy a house from playing music.
Juicy: Cheese, Gromit! Cheese!
N’: The Moon’s made of cheese.
Sweet: We were looking forward to that gig.
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
Sweet: Love each other. But like, in a positive way.
Juicy: That way everyone has sex with each other!
N’: Sex on the Moon.
Sweet N’ Juicy: Thank you On: Magazine! We love your outfit!
