A Q&A with Nvision
Hard rock with a hip-hop edge from from the Mississippi Gulf Coast – here’s Alex, vocalist from Nvision…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
‘The End’. This is a very special track to us, and it means different things to different people. The ultimate premise of this track is the struggle of letting go of the things you know are holding you back. As someone who has faced a lot of trials in my life and the familiarity with choosing comfort over better, this song rings deep to me.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
The hardest part of any release is the feeling of “will anyone care? Will this song even matter?” Once you get over that, the rest is easy.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
All of our music is currently produced by the talented Zack Keel and he brings so much to the game! He not only helps us with bringing our sound to a more focused centre but has helped push my vocals and our playing to the next level.
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
The biggest take away for our listeners is, hey! You aren’t alone. In so much of our music, written from personal perspectives, our listeners can relate and know that if we made it, they can too.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
No. Just kidding! We normally work on songwriting and come up with a “demo”, and we bring that to Zack. He helps us hone it in and offers critiques and then by the time we finish – almost thirty hours later – we come up with something beautiful every time.
What bands/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
Attack Attack!; We Came As Romans; Bring Me The Horizon; Issues (RIP); I; Prevail; Kingdom Collapse among others. These are all artists that are unique in their craft and guys who made waves in the industry for their creativity.
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
Personally, I’d love to go to Colombia because I’ve always had an affinity for their people. I’ve been to Bogota twice on missions’ trips and I can’t wait to go back.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
‘The End’. Until then, probably ‘Show Stopper’ or ‘She Said’. ‘She Said’ encapsulates our heart while ‘Show Stopper’ shows our more playful side. ‘The End’ is our best track to date.
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
We want to do this for as long as we can for as many people as we can!
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
We always say three things at every show: You are LOVED. Your life matters. You have a purpose. And that no matter how dark it may get, there is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel.
