LOWDOWN: Tell us about HARRON HOMES – what do you do, who do you do it for and how long have you been doing it?
Harron Homes has been a luxury house builder since 1992, delivering high quality new homes across Yorkshire, as well as other areas of the country. I became a member of the Harron team in September 2011 as Sales and Marketing Director, bringing with me 25 years of experience in the new homes business.

TAGLINE: Does HARRON HOMES have a motto or mission statement?
Through our intimate developments and sophisticated house designs, our mission is to create homes people aspire to live in and become Yorkshire’s premier house builder.

STANDOUT: What makes HARRON HOMES standout from your competitors?
I believe it is our ability to design location specific products that sets Harron Homes apart from other house builders. We recognise the importance the setting plays in helping to create a dream home, which is why we handpick all of our locations, specifically selecting exclusive areas that can offer the lifestyle our buyers want to enjoy in the future. Our meticulous attention to detail also ensures our properties are always finished to a high standard – something our customers always comment on and a great source of pride for the company.

INSPIRATION: Who or what inspires HARRON HOMES the most?
Customer satisfaction is always our number one priority and the knowledge that our homes can improve someone’s lifestyle is a major driving force. We dedicate a lot of time to listening to our customers in order to understand what they want from a home; we design comfortable, spacious properties that cater for their needs, while also offering a great investment for the future.

RESPECT: Which other companies or business people do you admire and why?
In the house building business there is an emphasis on team work and I have an enormous amount of respect for the house builders behind our homes; the team on the ground is out there in all seasons and all weathers, creating new communities from scratch and completely transforming an area. There’s also the people working behind the scenes, such as the land negotiators and the architects, who have the vision to see the potential of an area of land and what it could be in the future, and I think that’s something to be admired.

PAY-OFF: What aspect of being involved in HARRON HOMES do you enjoy the most?
Personally, seeing the completion of a Harron Homes development and the difference it makes to the local area brings a great feeling of satisfaction. Being able to create a brand new community and witnessing it evolve and thrive is always a pleasing sight and watching families move in and settle happily into their new lives in their new homes is certainly the best part of the job.

CHALLENGE: … and what’s the trickiest part?
Market conditions over the last few years have certainly made the industry a challenging one to work in. Many buyers have found it really tough to get a mortgage, as the lending criteria has been tightened to such an extreme and the financial climate has made it difficult to save for the large deposits banks are now demanding. A lot of families want to make the move, but the banks won’t support them and obviously as a house builder, this has an impact on what we do.

FREETIME: Tell us what you do when you’re not involved with HARRON HOMES?
I’ve never been one for relaxing pursuits, so my downtime tends to be just as active as my working week. I love sports that are really fast paced; in winter I can be found hitting the slopes with my snowboard, while in the warmer months I head to the coast for some wakeboarding – a water-based combination of water skiing and snowboarding. Basically, I’m a fan of anything that gets the adrenaline pumping.

FUTURE: Where would you like to see HARRON HOMES in ten years time?
In the last 20 years we’ve created an impressive number of new communities around Yorkshire and hope to continue this in the future. Harron Homes’ aim is to become Yorkshire’s premier house builder and as we continue to expand our portfolio of developments, with exclusive settings and luxury properties – we’re certainly on course.
