BOLONGARO TREVOR LEEDS – 1st Store Outside London
Bolongaro Trevor, the latest brainchild of founders and former designers of the retail store group All Saints, are to open their first store outside of London, in Leeds’s famous Thornton’s Arcade.
Showcasing the complete menswear and womenswear collections over two floors – as well as a recently discovered basement dungeon uncovered after 25 years – the store is due to open on 27th July.
When we started Bolongaro Trevor, we wanted to produce a totally different aesthetic to what we had created at All Saints. We were 28 years old when we started All Saints and it was all about what we wanted to wear then.
“This next venture gave us the opportunity to create a new, higher level, more beautiful and original product – what we want to wear now – clean, crisp and neat, yet worn in and slightly more classic – with a wink! We never look at trends, preferring to take inspiration from our ever expanding collection of military uniforms and vintage finds amassed over the past 20 years and we generally rework the original piece to create a new look, customising, over-dyeing, adding our own original prints, buttons, pockets, zips and trims. We take every garment and work it into that ‘must-have’ piece. We want to recreate that feeling we had when we were kids – walking in a shop with thirty quid, maybe a hundred quid, to spend and finding that ‘got to have it’ moment.”
Launched back in 2007, the brand is now firmly established, with a dedicated following. There are currently two stores in London, with a rock’n’roll/mod influence and a moody darkness reminiscent of Victorian London. The brand is sought after by the coolest bands, celebrities and stylists, including Daisy Lowe, Agyness Deyne, Kate Moss, Helena Bonham Carter and Gwen Stefani. Bands that have worn the brand include The Who, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Libertines, Snow Patrol and The Prodigy.
